Google Ads & LSA

Google Ads for HVAC contractors

Someone Googling “AC not cooling” is a different animal than a cold Facebook scroll. Search and Local Services Ads are for HVAC owners who want inbound from people already looking — tight geos, the services you actually run, no spend on DIY junk or the next county over.

I grew an electric and HVAC shop with my own marketing spend. Real tests, not theory. How Lead Junkies got built.

Search intent is not a brand video

A no-cool at 5pm and a $12k changeout do not belong in the same thought, even if they are both “HVAC.” Search campaigns should map to what your techs actually sell: repair, replacement, maintenance — not every keyword Google will happily bill you for. Negatives and geo fences matter. If you are paying for “how to recharge my AC” or zips you do not run, that is not marketing. That is leakage.

Call tracking so you can see which queries turn into jobs, not which queries Google labeled conversions. Landing pages that match the query: no-cool should not open on a lifestyle changeout gallery. Click-to-call. A form that emails a real inbox. Fast on a phone in a driveway.

LSA is not a magic switch

Google Local Services Ads can work for HVAC contractors when the profile, reviews, and dispatch are real. They do not fix a shop that does not answer the phone. They also do not replace a landing page that explains what you actually do in this market. LSA is pay-per-lead inside Google’s system. Search ads are keyword auctions. SEO is the page that can rank without paying per click. HVAC contractors often need a mix. The mix depends on the market, not a template.

I will tell you if LSA, search, or both even make sense before we light a budget. Thin review profile, service area you do not run, nobody on the phone — we fix those conversations first. Longer write-ups: HVAC Local Services Ads and HVAC Google Ads.

Southeast weather belongs in the account

Florida cooling is not a Tennessee heat pump winter. Georgia metro auctions are not a Mississippi county. State pages on this site exist because geos and seasonality are not identical. We fence Google to the counties you staff. We do not buy “the Southeast” as one blob because it looks aggressive in a screenshot.

After-hours in July is where HVAC Google Ads go to die. Missed-call text-back is part of whether search is worth running. I learned that spending $750,000 of my own money on a shop that went from $2.1 million to $7 million — my company, not a client case study.

FAQ

Should every HVAC shop run Google Ads?
No. If the site cannot convert, the geo is a knife fight you cannot staff, or nobody answers, I will say that before we spend.
Do you guarantee LSA leads?
No. Guaranteed “leads” is usually junk. We care whether the conversation can book.
Is this separate from SEO?
Yes. Search ads pay per click. SEO is pages. They share a website that has to convert. Many shops need both.
